Lloyd Banks Makes Surprise School Visits
Tuesday, October 31On October 6, Lloyd Banks made two surprise visits to the schools he attended in Queens. The first stop was at the Thurgood Marshall Elementary School (PS 80). Lloyd met principal Ms. Glenn who took Lloyd to surprise her students. After talking to the ecstatic kids about the importance of education, and reading in particular, Lloyd surprised Ms. Glenn with a $10,000 check to purchase much needed computers for her classrooms.
Said Ms. Glenn: “The students of Thurgood Marshall are very grateful to the G-Unity Foundation. This grant has made it possible for us to continue to provide new computers in the classrooms. The speech by Mr. Banks inspired my babies. The school was electrified for the rest of the day!!! Your kindness and generosity have touched our hearts. The staff and parents are forever in your debt. Thank you over and over again.”
The next stop involved Fox 5 News! Thanks to Lisa Evers who captured the next big surprise at the August Martin High School. Principal Cromer took Lloyd to meet his students who attend a special after-school program. Lloyd’s hope was to give them some encouragement and inspiration to keep working hard, which would make them successful with whatever career path they choose. Knowing that the school has a variety of needs, Lloyd gave the school $10,000 to purchase new books for their library. Mr. Cromer had talked about their need for updating the library, and Lloyd was only too happy to make sure these great students have access to a great library.
